With the goal to develop an object from reusing toilet paper tubes, we decided to create a kitchen-garden. This orchard can be hung from any wall inside a house that gets enough illumination. It has a container to provide the plants with water continuously, ideal for gardening small ornament plants or edible herbs like chamomile, chives, epazote, cilantro or parsley.
The kitchen garden is mainly made from toilet paper tubes. As the tubes’ material is not waterproof, we covered them with a layer of beeswax to avoid absorbing humidity. The water container on the upper part is made from several tubes. Because of the amount of water it holds, it only has to be refilled once a week or less. The container is connected to each plant pot through a fishbowl hose. Each pot is also covered with beewax on the inside, and sealed on the lower part to avoid dripping. The tubes are finished with water-based paint. This is a simple project that can be replicated easily and allows you to grow your own herbs for cooking.
